Despite being a huge corporation, Google certainly has a sense of humor. Well… that, or the employees from the tech company get really, really bored from time to time. Either way, these 10 Google Easter eggs are pretty fun.
1. Google Underwater
All you have to do is go in Google and type in “Google Underwater “, then click on “I’m Feeling Lucky”. It will certainly keep you entertained for some time with the search bar sinking underwater, waves you can click and results that will drop in the water when you perform a search.
2. Google Tilt
Type in “tilt” in Google and then press Enter. Google will give you the results for the word “tilt” slanted. While this certainly doesn’t serve any purpose it’s still a pretty fun thing to do and to show to your friends. To be fair, most Easter eggs don’t serve any purpose anyway.
3. Zerg Rush
If you don’t really like Google you can type “Zerg Rush” and then hit Enter. The Os from the Google logo will start to eat the page showing the search results. You can kill the Os by double clicking on them, but if you truly hate Google that kind of defeats the purpose. It’s a pretty nifty game where the Os come from all directions and you get to kill them to get a higher score that you can send to your friends and brag about.
FYI, Zergs are a race of aliens from Blizzard’s game called Starcraft.
4. Google Terminal
If you ever wondered how Google would have looked in the 1980s, you can find out by typing “Google Terminal” and then hitting the “I’m Feeling Lucky” button. This will show you a web page in the style of old computers from the 80s. This is actually pretty cool, as well as entirely functional. This Easter egg also comes with dial-up modem noises.
5. Do a Barrel Roll
If you want to see Google’s search results page do a 360 degree spin, you can do so by typing “Do a Barrel Roll” in the search area and then hitting Enter.
This is a phrased used by Peppy in the game Star Fox from Nintendo.
6. Google Sphere
If you’re tired of the static text in Google type “Google Sphere” in the search area and click “I’m Feeling Lucky”. The text in Google will become more dynamic and will take the shape of a sphere made out of text. You can use your mouse to control the speed of the text by moving the pointer away or closer to the sphere. If you search for something you will also notice that any images in the results page will also spin.
7. Google Guitar
Ever wanted to play a guitar? What’s that? You don’t own one? Well… Google has your back once again. You have to type in “Google Guitar” in the search area and then click on “I’m Feeling Lucky” to get an online guitar that you can use and also record songs on, to show to your friends. This is pretty much the only Google Easter egg that you can use for hours and not get tired of. Also, it’s the only one that has a well-defined purpose.
8. Find Chuck Norris
Try to type “Chuck Norris” in Google and then click on “I’m Feeling Lucky”. There are numerous jokes regarding Chuck Norris as having huge powers. Google’s take on the jokes about Chuck Norris is also pretty funny. Remember that it’s not you the one that finds Chuck Norris, it’s Chuck Norris that finds you.
9. Google Gravity
Go to Google, type “Google Gravity” and then click on “I’m Feeling Lucky”. This will make the Google web page crash down because of gravity. It’s a cool Easter egg and this is particularly fun because you can grab things on the screen and flick them around. If you search for things, you can also grab the results and throw them.
10. Google Pond
If you want to find out how your monitor looks underwater, we suggest that you don’t throw it in the bathtub (especially if you’re also in it and the monitor is plugged in). Instead, type in “Google Pond” and click on “I’m Feeling Lucky”. This is a great illusion and it’s really fun to see how your display looks submerged.
This was our list of 10 Google Easter eggs. If you don’t use Google as your go-to search engine, we recommend you give them a try at least to see how they look.
