Almost everyone finds themselves wondering what they are going to change about them, their habits or their environment in the New Year. However, most of these resolutions end up forgotten in a small drawer of your memory or of your hard drive.
In order to make people believe in them and in change again, here are 10 realistic New Year resolutions.
You don’t have to start big and you most definitely don’t have to overestimate yourself or expect too much from you or other people. A healthy way to find out what you really want to do this year is to just sit down, grab a pen and paper or open up a Word document and start thinking and writing down ideas.
For those of you who need a starting point, check out these new years resolution ideas.
1. Help out as much as you can

Just writing down “Be a better person” is so vague that you are going to end up not knowing what actually makes you a better person. However, try volunteering at a homeless shelter or even buy a pizza for someone who cannot afford it. Go to your mom’s place and help her with the cleaning or if you see someone in need of help in general, instead of just walking away, go and help them. There is nothing that feels better than the feeling you get after helping someone.Teach your kids, parents or friends to do the same.
2. Say no to gym memberships

I know, I know, if you are going to a gym you have to do some work-out because there are people there who expect you to do it. What you don’t know is that almost half of the people who sign up for a gym membership end up with not going to the gym at all and waste money. Instead of thinking to pay money to lose that extra weight, find some supportive friends and a couple of workouts on youtube (there are loads of them). Now that’s a new year resolution!
3. Enjoy your free time

There are thousands or even millions of people who cannot afford the luxury of having free time, so make the best out of yours. Here, have some New year Resolution quotes:
Time you enjoy wasting is not wasted time.
John Lennon
Yesterday’s the past, tomorrow’s the future, but today is a gift. That’s why it’s called the present.
Bil Keane
4. Laugh louder

Try to make the best out of every situation. Even though you feel like there is no tomorrow or you feel like no one is ever going to be there for you, imagine this: There are 7 billion people on this Earth, there is at least one other person who is going through exactly the same thing as you. Want a life goal? Find that person and help he/she out the way you want to be helped. Laughing is free and it can heal even deep wounds. Laugh at lame jokes that you don’t even consider hilarious. One of the most important life lessons is to learn to laugh even though you are dying inside.
5. Make new friends

Even though you may think you have no friends that is almost never true. Go out more often, be friendlier, if you hate everyone, try finding someone else with the same passion. When Facebook first came out on the market it was designed for this exact purpose: to make new friends from around the world! Meeting new people is a fun way to learn new stuff about different cultures or simply try to understand the complexity of different human beings.
6. Travel more

This one depends a lot on whether or not you actually enjoy traveling but even a walk to the local market or a different town you always wanted to visit counts as traveling.
7. Find love in all of its forms

Love with all your being and as strong as possible. Don’t think that the only kinds of love are loving your parents, friends or lover. No! Love the cold wind a hot summer breeze, love the green of the leaves during spring, love your dog for bringing you the newspaper. Learn how to enjoy the little things in life and love them all.
8. Find out what makes you happy

It’s not even that hard. Basically, if you cannot stop think of something, it’s because at some point, it made you happy. Happiness works pretty much the same as love, feel happy as often as you can and always remember that it’s the little things that count.
9. Prank someone like you’ve never pranked before

If you’re the prankster or just a wanna-be prankster you have to dedicate your time to creating a great prank for 2015. Forget covering your coworker’s entire office or car with post-its or handing out donuts filled with mayo, go big this time! However, be careful who you actually want to prank and never exceed ethical limits or you might end up being hated.
10. Embrace yourself for who you are

This one is probably the hardest. Everyone has flaws and stuff that they are not proud of and they can be either about looks and appearance or actions that they have done in the past. This year, learn how to live with all your issues and not so loved flaws and try not to be so hard on yourself.
Want to lose some weight? Figure out why. Is it because you actually want it or because you want society to see you different? Want to make funny New Years resolutions? Why? Is it because you actually want to make a change or is it because everyone else does it? Dedicate this year to finding out who you truly are and what you actually want.
