The Internet is so full of makeup tips that you don’t even know which to believe anymore. Should you pluck your eyebrows or not? Should you wash your hair every other day or is it bad for your scalp to do it? Whether you’re using cheap cosmetics or high-fashion brands such as Dior and Chanel, there are a few things you need to know that are going to make your makeup application and skincare routine much easier. The following 10 skincare and makeup tips are something that everyone can do with just a few makeup or skincare items, so read on and enjoy.
10. Mix Your Foundation with Moisturizing Cream
For days when you just don’t want to put on a full face of makeup, you can just mix a little bit of your foundation with some moisturizing cream and apply it to your face. It’s just enough to give you a nice glow and coverage, but it won’t look like you have anything on. It’s a homemade version of a BB cream.
9. Don’t Overpluck
Overplucking your eyebrows will make you look older than you are, that’s a fact! Besides, messing too much with them can change your facial expression and leave you permanently stunned. Try to keep them tamed and neat. You can even dye your eyebrows if you really want a change, but do not pluck them to death.
8. Shine on You Crazy Diamond
A little shimmering powder or cream, such as the Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector, in just the right places will give you healthy, glowing skin. The perfect spots to apply it are on your brow bone, on the tip of your nose, a bit on your forehead and your Cupid’s bow. Be sure to blend the shimmering cream!
7. Never a Straight Line
When it comes to the eye, a straight and unblended line is the worst thing you can do, unless you’re going for a cat eye or something like that. The best way to do it is draw a line with your eyeliner or eye kohl and then blend it well so that you achieve that smudged and smokey look.
6. Freshen Up Your Hair
A great tip to freshen up your hair when you don’t really want to wash it or you don’t have time to do it, is to put a little baby powder (talcum) on your roots, then wait for a couple of minutes and brush it out carefully. The powder will absorb the oils and then fall out of your hair when you’re brushing. Forget about dry shampoo, talcum powder rocks!
5. Conceal Around the Nose and Mouth
One of the best makeup tips is to use concealer around your nose and mouth. Usually you don’t notice that those places need any concealing, but if you look at yourself in the mirror right now, you will see that the skin around your nose and mouth is a bit different in color than the one on your cheeks. Concealing around your mouth and then putting on lipstick will give you those flawless lips that you see in the magazines.
4. Shimmering Skin
Just look at the picture above. It looks like she’s glowing from within, when in fact the secret behind the glow is a shimmering body lotion. Jennifer Lopez does this body shimmer really well on the red carpet and we suggest you do it too for special events. Don’t go to work with shimmer on your skin, you’ll have people think Christmas came earlier.
3. Blend Everything
Blend everything from your eye shadow to your shimmering cream to your blush. Never leave any lines on your face! If you manage to blend all the products well you will achieve that flawless face that you’ve been ogling in magazines. And the great thing about blending is that you don’t need to have expensive products, you can achieve a great look with cheap products as well.
2. Lipstick, Powder, Lipstick
A great tip to make your lipstick last longer and not smudge all over the place is to apply some on your lips, blot it out, then put a fine layer of powder and lastly some more lipstick. The powder will give your lips volume and also make sure that the lipstick isn’t going anywhere. You can repeat the procedure for as long as you want.
1. Hydrate All Day Long
Hydrating your skin is the best way to make sure that it won’t wrinkle. A dry skin wrinkles faster than a moisturized one, that is a fact! If you’re spending the day in, you can put on a heavy moisturizing cream on your face and just let your skin drink it in as much as it can. After an hour you can clean up the excess. If you’re at work, then make sure you drink lots of water and that the humidity is just right in the room where you’re sitting in.
