Most adult people, men and women, aren’t looking forward to old age. Who in their right mind would look forward to eyesight and hearing deterioration, memory loss and loss of flexibility and stamina? Although old age doesn’t bring with it only bad things, trying to hold on to your youth is something we should all try to do, especially because this would mean staying healthy and vibrant for as long as possible. We’ve already given you a few tips on how to have younger looking skin and in today’s article we have 10 tips on how to look younger for you to follow if you want to.
10. Put Some Thought into the Way You Dress
The most common mistake people do when trying to look younger is that they will dress like young people do. It’s never going to work, men and women of the world. Dressing like your teenage son or daughter will only make you look silly and old. Try, instead, to choose clothes that fit you and that are neutral (which basically means to avoid prints and bold colors). Go for a smart casual look, something that says: I try, but not too much.
9. Use SPF Every Day
Although it may not seem like the case, the sun is our enemy and we need to protect ourselves from it, even when it doesn’t seem like we should (for example, during colder seasons). The sun will damage our skin and make us wrinkle faster. Besides, liver spots, the ones that old people get, aren’t really from the liver, but from the sun. U
8. Don’t Think You’re Old
It all starts with you and your perception of yourself. If you go around thinking you’re old and saying it to your friends and family, then you’ll start believing it and it will affect the way you function. Instead, start thinking that age is nothing but a number and that you’re only as old as you feel. Clichés, we know, but they really do work.
7. Stand up Straight
Don’t slouch and don’t bring your belly to the front. Bad posture will add years to your age and it will also make you actually feel old. Stand up straight, or at least try to do it. If you’re not too convinced on how bad posture influences your appearance, take two pictures of yourself: one in which you slouch and one in which you stand up straight and then see in which one you look younger.
6. Dye Your Hair
Getting your first grey hairs is a huge milestone for most people. While grey hair can look great on some folks, it will never make you look younger, so if you’re searching for ways on how to look younger dying your hair is a very handy and cheap option. Just don’t choose any wacky colors, it will only make you look older. Stick to your natural hair color, Mother Nature is never wrong.
5. Start Eating Healthy
You really are what you eat. If you’re going to stuff your face with fast food and processed products, then you’re not going to look young, that’s for sure. Besides, if you could devour plates of junk food when you were in college, you most definitely can’t do that in your 30’s, so grow up, food-wise and start make healthy choices.
4. Stop Smoking
If you want to look younger and keep your skin looking fresh, then probably the first thing you need to do is stop smoking. All those harmful toxins aren’t just harming your lungs and throat, they’re doing unimaginable damage to your skin. If you want to know how much damage, just do a little Google search about identical twins, one who is a smoker and the other a non-smoker and see the difference. Yikes!
3. Start Plucking!
Unfortunately, as you get older, you start losing hair in some places (legs, head and underarm) and gaining it in other places, such as nose, brows and ears for men and moustache and chin for women. Needless to say that if you want to look younger, you need to pluck them away as soon as possible. Also, a nice looking eyebrow will clear up the eye area, making it look younger. Just don’t go overboard, like Joey did in the above picture.
2. Exercise
It’s a well-known fact that exercising will increase your endorphins and boos your mood and general outlook on life, so being active will not only get your body in shape, but it will also get your mood in shape. Also, if that’s not motivation enough, exercise is known to increase sex drive and there’s nothing that get a person feeling young, like feeling in the mood.
1. Moisturize Your Skin
To be honest, looking younger has to do a lot with the skin. Did you know that dry skin wrinkles faster than an oily one? It’s quite obvious when you think about it. So, if you want your skin to stay wrinkle free for as long as possible, make sure you find the right moisturizer and use it at least two times a day, in the morning and evening. When it comes to cream, there isn’t such a thing as too much of it.
