Do you want to change your garden but you are running short in ideas?

Here are some tips and tricks on how to make your garden more suitable to you needs and personality.

 1. Flower bed or flower cabinet?

If you have an old forgotten bed frame in your garage or if you are thinking of changing your bedroom furniture, use the old one to remodel your garden. The bed frame, chairs and cabinets can be recycled. Choose a theme color and paint the furniture and then, if it’s a closet, plant flowers in the drawers, and if it’s a bed just put the frame so that it surrounds the flower bed that you probably already have in your garden. This will give a unique atmosphere to your garden and will make it look more like an old room. Also if you have picture frames that you have no use for, you can add then to this setting and don’t forget to place a flower pot or a rock ornament so that it will actually look like an outdoor painting.

2. Original statues

If you are a fan of garden statues then you should find some that are not so common, and if you can,  make them yourself.  Animals, figures, small birds and children statues can be placed in hidden corners of the garden so they catch the observer’s eye in a discrete way. Place the statues almost hidden between leaves and bushes and make sure to place a discreet light source near it in order to maximize the effect.

3. Flower pots

Personalize your flower pots so that they match the atmosphere of the garden overall. Use matching colors and textures and also see what color contrast better with the flower color. Besides flowers, you can also plant herbs. This way you will always a fresh stash for that special family dinner. Also you can put little sighs that will tell you the name of the herb or the flower that you placed in the pot. You can hang them or just place then near one another for a cool and colorful effect when they blossom. Also, if you consider yourself as being a romantic, buy stylish bird cages and hang then in your garden and make sure you put a flower and a light source in the cage. This arrangement is perfect for a special night. Let your imagination run wild and enjoy the result!

4. Water garden

These types of gardens are perfect if you like Aquatic flora or if you would like to have a pond with fish, liek koi fish, though many people keep goldfish. They usually require low maintenance and are a truly beautiful sight. Also, you can add some water lilies and enjoy their flowers when they will blossom. This will give your garden a quite romantic and special touch.

5. Fountain

If you decide you do want to include water in your garden but not so much as a water garden you can always just have a fountain. Make sure you integrate it in the garden theme and try placing it in full view. Also, if you want to create a unique effect, place a colored light source in the water.

6. Create your own path

If you decide to have a path in your garden, make sure you personalize it as well  You can choose a mosaic pebble path in different styles and colors, or place thin wood or stone blocks to crate a pathway through the bushes.

7. Upside down flowers

These kinds of flowers are perfect if you want to have high round arches filled with hanging bouquets of flowers. Certain flowers will grow upside down by themselves and the effect is fantastic.

8. Zen garden

If you are the type of person that enjoys just observing the garden from one point and does not want to interact so much with plants and bushes, you can always make a Zen garden. This is also called a “dry landscape” and looks pretty much like a small landscape composed or rocks and water features, moss, pruned trees and bushes, and sand is used to represent ripples in water. The observer can just relax and admire the garden preferably from a single view point. This sort of garden is very easy to maintain and rearrange. You just need some space near a wall preferably, some grumpy uneven rocks and pruned trees is you also want some vegetation or just decide to go with the fountain. Whatever your choice may be, your Zen garden will give you great satisfaction.

Choose your colors wisely when it comes to your garden. Use the same palette and try lighting the corners of the gardens so that it will appear bigger. Also, the details of the garden will be exposed and it will seem full and filled with life and color.  Place the lights on the ground for it to appear bigger, or hang lights in the trees or on your gazebo. Also, water lights should be colored.
