Ariana Grande has rapidly grown out to become one of America’s sweethearts. It’s difficult not to consider it so, actually. She’s definitely pretty, talented, and has a heart of gold. Did we mention that she’s talented? Despite her dainty looks, she’s able to compete with vocals of the likes of Mariah Carey and Whitney Houston, both giants in the musical industry. Say what you will, but it’s undeniable that the formula for a modern day diva is right there. Luckily, she’s also a really interesting and fun person, as we’re aiming to prove with a list of Ariana Grande facts that every newcomer fan needs to know.

#1 Ariana used to be part of the roman-catholic religion, but there was one particular turning point in her life which made her fall out with the faith. It was after Pope Benedict condemned homosexuality and claimed that women weren’t supposed to work, deeming them as sinners. The singer claimed that she felt very disheartened and that she needed something else to believe in.

#2 She’s very good at gardening and baking, though apparently neither of these traits are an inheritance passed down by her mother. Ariana’s mother is a CEO, a woman running a business designed to craft equipment for the army and navy. According to the artist, she’s definitely not an “cookies-in-the-oven” type of mother, but she’s the kind of working, independent woman all daughters should look up to.

#3 Since we’re on the topic of her family, we might as well mention her grandmother as well. More specifically, we should mention her grandmother’s fun little quirk. Ariana confessed in an interview that the woman is an advocate for sleeping naked. Oh, and also, she doesn’t call her grandmother. Instead, she calls her Nonna!

#4 Ever wondered which other celebrities the singer looks up to? Look no further than Jim Carey, who Ariana really likes. This is something that most likely steers from the fact that she considers Bruce Almighty to be the “greatest movie ever.” We don’t know about Jim Carey and his odd movie choices, but his talent is completely undeniable.

#5 Ariana Grande isn’t Ariana Grande without her iconic ponytail look that she seems to flaunt everywhere she goes. Unfortunately, this isn’t necessarily something done out of comfort. There is a very good reason, a serious one at it too – to cover up hair loss issues. They’ve emerged because of her role in Victorious for which she had to repeatedly bleach her hair in order to dye it red.

#6 In 2013, Ariana visited the Stull Cemetery in Kansas City. Whatever happened there, it seems like a triad of demons chose to follow her on her car ride as she departed. Ariana claims that she felt an overwhelming feeling of nausea, mostly caused by a strong sulfur scent. When she snapped a photo, she vouches that she managed to pin point three textbook demonic faces.

#7 Since we’re in the era where cooking shows and food Instagram photos are highly popular, it wouldn’t seem too weird to assume that newcomer Ariana Grande fans would like to know a little bit about her diet, right? Well, she’s a vegan. This is because she apparently loves animals more than humans and plant-based diets are the way to go.

#8 Some women can’t wait to slip off those uncomfortable pumps and slide on some good ole crocs. That’s not Ariana Grande, folks. She seemingly loves wearing high heels so much that when she isn’t sporting a pair, she likes pretending to be walking wearing some regardless.

#9 Let’s talk about some Ariana Grande facts related to music. As far as musical inspirations go, she actually draws a lot of it from the 50’s and the 60’s. This is something that stuck to her due to a childhood filled with arts like the Chiffons and the Shangri-Las being blasted through the household by her grandparents. The reasoning for why she prefers them over contemporary music is that it was all more about love and sentiments as opposed to meaningless fun and partying.

#10 Every person has something they absolutely dread. Some people fear admitting to having any fears, so that should count either, right? According to an interview, Ariana is scared of heights, a common phobia shared with an overwhelming number of Earth inhabitants. Ironically, though, she absolutely loves riding rollercoasters. In fact, she went ahead to name out Universal’s Halloween Horror Night as her favorite amusement park ride and attraction.
