Halloween is approaching. If you are thinking of organizing a party at your place, it’s good to keep in mind not only the costume and decor, but the food. You do not need complicated recipes. Even a simple mashed potato can be interesting if you use a little imagination.
Here are ten ideas for meals only good for Halloween table.
1. Spider cupcake
This one is so easy. Make a regular chocolate cupcake, but make sure you use one of those round backing trays (or bake a huge chocolate bun cake and cut the shape you need with a glass). Then simply decorate it to look like a spider. You will need dark melted chocolate, a small plastic bag and a backing sheet. Simply draw on the paper the legs of the spider and the head, let it cool in the fridge. Then decorate you chocolate cupcake.
2. Carrot fingers
If you’re planning to serve dip at the party, and you should because is very easy (cheese, yogurt or cream, herbs and spices), you should have some tasty treats to go with it. And what better than carrot fingers? Simply carve the carrots at the tip and make room for a nail made put of almond flakes. Use the same dip to stick everything together.
3. Spider eggs
Yes, Halloween is the only time of the year we actually like spiders. For this recipe, you’ll need to boil some eggs, cut then in half, remove the yolk and stuff each of the side with a dip (just like the one you made earlier, or some mixture of chicken and mayo). Now comes the Halloween part: use black olives to decorate the eggs just like in the picture above.
4. Ghost pizza
Making a ghost pizza is so easy. Simply make a regular pizza (make sure the dough is not a perfect circle), add the toppings of your choice, but add the mozzarella last. Put small chunks of mozzarella on your pizza and bake in the oven. When it’s done and the mozzarella is melted, use a toothpick to shape it into cute and delicious ghosts. Use black pepper seed for the eyes.
You can make jelly worms by pouring red gelatin mixture and water in a straw. Or you can buy shaped jelly worms. The recipe is as follows: take the jelly worms and put them in a bowl, pour vodka over them and let it cool in the fridge until they absorb all the vodka. Drunk worms!
6. Meatball eyes
You just have a simple meatball recipe. To make it a Halloween meal, place in each meatball half a green olive, to give the impression of an iris. Pour tomato sauce over them and let them cook quietly on the stove or in the oven. Serve with pasta.
7. Mummy hot dogs
Well, these dogs are dead and now we have to eat them. Simple buy some hot dogs and some pastry (or make you own at home, if you have the time, but the one you find in supermarkets is perfect) and “dress” each dog as if it were a mummy. Make sure you cover everywhere, but leave some room for the poppy-seed eye. Bake in the oven for 20 minutes. It’s that easy.
8. Halloween Panna Cotta
Making a Halloween Panna Cotta is so easy. Simply make a regular panna cotta or by one from the local store. Use a kiwi slice to decorate the panna cotta, so that it looks like a beautiful green eye. Use some strawberry syrup to add a little “blood” to your dessert. Delicious.
9. Halloween Soup
The easiest soup you have ever made and a spectacular meal to serve a Halloween party. Make a creamy soup (regular one doesn’t do because it will not hold our décor). You can make butternut squash soup, vegetable cream soup or any other recipe with a creamy texture. Now you’re going to need yogurt or cream and steady hands. The toothpick is your friend again as you will use it to shape a little cream ghost on top of your soup. Ad poppy seeds for eyes. Of course you don’t need to stop here. You can make a spider web, but that needs a bit more practice.
10. Halloween marshmallows
You simply cannot have a party without marshmallows. And you can use them in so many ways: to decorate a cupcake as in the picture above, shape them like bones and serve them with a dip made from red fruits, put them on sticks and decorate with candy so that they look like ghosts. The possibilities are endless.
