We can almost taste it. Summer. With its long days and even longer nights. With its summery smells and beautiful colors. With its pool parties and awesome burgers. With its waves and tanned skin and carefree vacations. Summer’s almost here and we can see ourselves enjoying all of those wonderful things that only summer can give us. Today, we’re going to take a look at some things we look forward to doing this summer and if you agree with us, we invite you to drop us a line in the comment section below. What are you looking forward to this summer?
10. A Nice BBQ
A nice, juicy burger, or some fresh grilled vegetables are some of those things we just love about summer. Call your friends over, put the beer on ice, heat up the barbecue and you’ve got all the ingredients to a perfect summer day!
9. A Break from the TV
Almost all TV shows take a break during the summer, so unless you’ve got a thing for reruns, then there isn’t much to see on TV during the hot season. Besides, who would want to stay in and watch TV when there are so many great things to do during the summer?
8. Enjoying Beer
Now, we’re not saying that beer cannot be enjoyed during the colder seasons, but it seems that summer was created with the sole purpose in mind to make beer more pleasurable. Am I right?! Sitting outside in the shade with a cold one in your hand is pretty close to what I would imagine heaven looked like.
7. Eating All the Yummy Summer Fruits
Cherries, strawberries, pears, plums, watermelons, mangoes, cantaloupes and other amazing fruits. The best part about summer is that we have access to the best fruits and vegetables in the world and we don’t even need to spend too much money on it either. Visit your local farmer’s market twice a week and make your summer a delicious one.
6. Getting Out of the City
If you have a desk job, then you know how horrible it is to be staring all day at your computer screen while there’s a whole summer happening outside. Getting out of the city whenever you can is absolutely wonderful, so why not start planning your every weekend today. I remember working for a corporation years ago and what I would do was to check the weather on Monday and if Friday was fine I would take the day off. I don’t think I ever worked more than one Friday per summer month during the years I worked for them!
5. Spending Every Moment Available Outside
One of the things we look forward to doing this summer is spending all of our free time under the great blue sky. Even if you can’t afford to hit the festival circuit, or go on vacation to the seaside or even leave the city, you can always sit on a bench in the park and soak up the sun and do some people watching. It’s summer!
4. Pool Parties
I for one, love pool parties so when summer hits I get this unfathomable urge to strip down to my bathing suit and go over to my friend’s Rachel house (she’s the one with the pool) and party all day long.
3. Going to Festivals
Festivals and summer go hand in hand, so put on your hipster hat on and some heavy duty boots and hit the festivals! Going to festivals are one of those things we look forward to doing this summer. Check out what festivals are in your area and buy tickets now, before it’s not too late.
2. Showing Our Body to the Sun
Did you know that the main source of vitamin D is the sun? Vitamin D is needed by our bodies to process calcium and help it set in our bones. Other sources include meat and dairy products, but around 80% of vitamin D is taken from the sun. We recommend you use sunscreen every time you leave the house in the summer, but if you want your vitamin D, then choose a lower SPF one.
1. Vacationing Near the Sea
Spending a vacation near the sea spells SUMMER. Where else should you go in the dead of summer? The sea and the ocean and THE places to go when the sun is hot and the city can’t seem to offer any relief. Pack your bags and head for the sandy beaches! Take lots of photos to keep you warm in that long and horrible winter that will inevitably come.
These were our things we look forward to doing this summer. What are yours? Care to share some of your thoughts with us?
