2014 is almost here and it will all be around the idea of new beginnings. It’s time to put the past behind us and think of 2013 as history. Don’t think about what you didn’t get to do, but about what you can do, what you can change. So, say goodbye to 2013 and say hello to new beginnings with these awesome quotes.
1. Time to let go
“I guess it’s going to have to hurt, I guess I’m going to have to cry, and let go of some things I’ve loved to get to the other side. I guess it’s going to break me down, Like fallin’ when you try to fly. Sad but sometimes moving on with the rest of your life starts with goodbye”. Carrie Underwood
2. It’s all in a day’s work
“When I face the desolate impossibility of writing 500 pages, a sick sense of failure falls on me, and I know I can never do it. Then gradually, I write one page and then another. One day’s work is all that I can permit myself to contemplate”. -John Steinbeck
3. Take action!
“I think there is something more important than believing: Action! The world is full of dreamers. There aren’t enough who will move ahead and begin to take concrete steps to actualize their vision”. W. Clement Stone
4. He made us
“The more we let God take us over, the more truly ourselves we become – because He made us. He invented us. He invented all the different people that you and I were intended to be. It is when I turn to Christ, when I give up myself to His personality, that I first begin to have a real personality of my own.” C.S. Lewis
5. Create anticipation
“If you want to build a boat, do not instruct the men to saw wood, stitch the sails, prepare the tools and organize the work, but make them long for setting sail and travel to distant lands”. Antoine De Saint-Exupéry
6. The end is the beginning of all things
“The end is the beginning of all things,
Suppressed and hidden,
Awaiting to be released through the rhythm
Of pain and pleasure”. Jiddu Krishnamurti
“I will admit that I wanted to shout for standing on the top of a scaffold in front of a good new wall always goes to my head. It is a sensation something between that of an angel let out of his cage into a new sky and a drunkard turned loose in a royal cellar.
And after all, what nobler elevation could you find in this world than the scaffold of a wall painter? No admiral on the bridge of a new battleship designed by the old navy, could feel more pleased with himself than Gulley, on two planks, forty feet above dirt level, with his palette table beside him, his brush in his hand, and the draught blowing up his trousers; cleared for action.” Joyce Cary, The Horse’s Mouth
8. Life is about not knowing
“Some stories don’t have a clear beginning, middle and end. Life is about not knowing, having to change, taking the moment and making the best of it, without knowing what’s going to happen next. Delicious ambiguity”. Gilda Radner
9. Don’t pass on opportunities
“A new day signifies a new beginning; don’t sit there and let that opportunity pass you by. Accept the each new day and make it better than yesterday. Because yesterday doesn’t matter as much as today does. Focus on the day ahead and make it a day to remember not a day to regret”. Unknown
10. Begin, fail, start over
“Keep on beginning and failing. Each time you fail, start all over again, and you will grow stronger until you have accomplished a purpose – not the one you began with perhaps, but one you’ll be glad to remember”. Anne Sullivan
Beginnings are always the hardest. Perhaps for many of us the idea of change and rehabilitation is scary. Other people, other situations, different context. Many regret on the sport and they say that they would have wanted to stay the same.
But many of us are excited and looking forward to a new beginning. We make plans, add, subtract, look with optimism and joy at various perspectives. New and interesting people, situations that challenge us and test our limits, passionate relationships, love stories so beautiful that sometimes we cannot be described in words.
