It’s almost time! Santa will come down the chimney to silently put your gifts under the tree, unless you’re not off on some Christmas vacation, case in which you’ll probably find some original Christmas trees almost everywhere you go and Santa will only find an empty house. So first things first, are you home for the holidays? Is there a Christmas tree in your house, be it natural, plastic or even a paper one? We surely hope so, as having a tree is not only an important part of the holidays tradition, but it has the gift of making us all more jolly and open to the Christmas spirit. And besides, kids love them.
But how about a change of scenery and perspective? How about you are against cutting trees and plastic doesn’t strike your fancy either? What if you want to do something really special this year, like making your own tree instead of buying, or creating something that at least resembles a decorated tree to gift a colleague at the Secret Santa party at the office? What if you just moved in a new place and don’t have enough room to host a green giant that sparkles?
Well, we took a look around at some ten original Christmas trees that you can buy if you didn’t already or do for yourself.
Are you ready to step out of the box and surprise Santa with your tree (and everybody else for that matter)?
1. The White Snowy Tree
Some people are truly allergic (in a metaphorical sense) to artificial Christmas trees, but truth be told, with the recent raise in environmentalist awareness, plastic trees are quite fashionable these days, and some are even completely out of this world. You’ll see soon. But coming back to the White Snowy, this is quite popular nowadays, as it can make a gorgeous piece of art if you decorate it wisely. Strong contrasts or cheerful jolly decorations and you will have one great tree this year.
2. Black, goth, classy
You’d might fight the idea with all your guts, as black is not by all means a Christmas-y color nor spirit, but rant all you want, black original Christmas trees have something intriguing, mysterious, a little frightening and especially something fascinating to them. If decorated in style, they make spectacular Christmas trees. Surely, they go well only with special types of houses and people, but there are a lot those who just got hooked on them.
3. The Upside Down Tree
We just mentioned that it is possible that people don’t have enough space to host a tree. But how about putting it upside down and even hanging it on a wall – corner? The available technology allows us to.
4. No tree, but an unique atmosphere
This may be one of the most original Christmas trees that we’ve seen in a long time, especially because there is no tree, but the concept of a tree suggested by an eerie decoration that seems to defy everything we know about trees and make us wish to know more about the arts. This ephemeral tree is quite breathtaking. And it is only ceiling decoration, in case you wondered.
5. Merry BooksMas!
This is quite the DIY project you’ve been waiting for and it is eco-friendly and as cheap as cheap as tree lights are nowadays. Just take out your books from the shelves and place them round and round (make sure you give them a tree shape and you don’t end up building a tower or a fort), then add the jolly colored bulbs and you’re good to go. Santa will be very happy to hear you also read those books.
6. The Bi-dimensional
Some original Christmas trees ideas involve the bi-dimensional tree, one that you can do it yourself with little effort and little money. You can think about anything from post – its to creating a shape out of lights or even use some wood and some nails to build one and decorate it as you like, in a rustic and interesting manner. The wooden sticks idea is not so bad, as during the year it can host tiny decorations.
7. The Ladder Tree
All you need is a wooden ladder, bulbs and decorations. Does it look great or what? Minimalist style, of course.
8. The Paper Rosette Tree
This one will require some crafting skills and some patience, but boy, does it look awesome or what? Apparently it is not that hard to make and since you will make a small one, it can be placed anywhere in the house or gifted to friends or co-workers. But how would you want to give up on this beauty? HERE is a tutorial with everything you need to make this true!
9. Beer bottle original Christmas trees
You’ve seen them around, as famous beer manufacturers are full of brilliant ideas, but you can’t get more eco – friendly than this. Besides, with a bit of imagination, you can light up the beer bottle tree in ways that will make it look magical.
10. Tribute to Love Christmas Wall Tree
Also a bi-dimensional one, but one that goes beyond post its and sticking lights on the wall. This is a truly unique idea that can turn into a beautiful DIY project, especially if you build it with a loved one by your side. Photos, souvenirs, a bit of classical decorations, words, symbols, you name it. Just to truthfully express the feeling of spending Christmas home.
