Impossible is nothing? Well, sometimes it is, especially when it comes to love stories presented in Hollywood movies. Inspired by Pompei 3D, which also has an apparently impossible love story, we decided to make a list of ten memorable impossible loves stories in the world of movies.
1. Casablanca, 1942
In a bar in Casablanca, two former lovers are reunited in a circumstance which forces them to forget about their feelings and think of their duty. It’s war. The entry of German troops in Morocco is imminent. American Rick Blaine (Humphrey Bogart) has managed to get the paperwork necessary for two people to be able to take the plane to Lisbon.
But when he finds out that the woman whom he is still suffering after, Ilsa Lund (Ingrid Bergman) is in Casablanca married to Czech Victor Laszlo (Paul Henreid) sought by the Nazis, Rick is left again without her, but this time, he is the one who decides. The scene takes place in the Moroccan airport.
2. Doctor Zhivago, 1965
The drama focuses mainly on two tragic love stories conducted in a triangle, having as background the civil war in Russia: portraits created by Omar Sharif, Julie Christie and Geraldine Chaplin were imprinted in the hearts of many romantic fans, who now continues to hum “Lara’s Theme” by Maurice Jarre.
3. Romeo and Juliet, 1968
The fate of the two lovers fighting against destiny is perhaps the most famous example of impossible love. Of the nearly 40 screenings of the great Shakespearian tragedy, the most famous (and, in an unanimous opinion, the best) version, closer than any other is Romeo and Juliet directed by Franco Zeffirelli, starring Leonard Whiting and Olivia Hussey.
4. Love Story, 1970
Two people get over social barriers, marry and ultimately face a dramatic end.

10. Blue Valentine, 2010
Derek Cianfrance realized the portrait of a fading relationship, surprising those almost imperceptible mechanisms that make a relationship increasingly fragile. Overgrown with tender memories of their love, Dean and Cindy try one night to save their marriage that is about to fall apart.
