Every day, we are given images of slim models while the rate of obesity is increasing worldwide. The fashion industry seems to suffer some changes in this respect, promoting, slowly but surely, voluptuous women. These plus-size models are wearing XXL clothes and looking gorgeous while doing it. Moreover, they are all successful supermodels who make hundreds of thousands of dollars per year. Let’s have a look at these 14 gorgeous plus-size models.

1. Tara Lynn

One of the famous of them all is Tara Lynn. You’ve probably know her from the H&M “Big is Beautiful” campaign, wearing a swimsuit with a sexy attitude. She appeared in famous magazines such as Elle and Glamour, but has not always been pleased with the way she looks: wearing size 46/48 in high school must not have been easy.

“There has Many Reasons to admire Tara Lynn: The plus-size model has not only helped redefine the industry’s standards of beauty, but encouraged women of all sizes to embrace their natural shape, too”, writes Elle Magazine.

2. Justine Legault

Justine Legault was born in Canada and now she is an international plus-size model. Despite her measures seemingly unsuitable for the fashion industry (91-81-114 and a height of 1.75m), her voluptuous forms, natural blond hair and blue eyes captured the hearts of everyone.

3. Christina Mendez

This plus-size model of Dominican origin began her career at a young age, but the sad news that her son was diagnosed with autism at the age of two made her devote herself exclusively to the care and education of her son, but in 2006, she returned to the world modeling world. She is the first plus-size Latin American model involved in major campaigns for fashion brands.

4. Barbara Brickner

With a career of over ten years, Barbara Brickner worked for many fashion designers, especially for Italian company Elena Miro. In 2010, Barbara Brickner launched her own plus-size collection for pregnant women, named BB Maternity. The collection was launched in the United States.

5. Silvia Rho

Born in California and of Korean origin, Rho always said she was bigger than all of her friends, but that never brought any bad thoughts. Immediately after graduating from high school, she came into contact with supermodels who were very skinny and realized that real women have forms. That was when she began to love her body.

6. Anansi Sims

Anansi Sims lived for a long time in the shadow of her mother, Beverly Johnson, the first black American model who appeared on the cover of Vogue and Elle magazine’s French edition. Subsequently, however, Anansi has created her own image, becoming plus-size model, posing for many designers and strutting catwalks at many fashion festivals. Her work and jaunty attitude towards significantly contributed to changing perceptions about weight. Women began to be proud of their voluptuous body and identify with other famous figures like Marilyn Monroe or Elizabeth Taylor, who had generous forms as well.

7. Natalie Laughlin

Natalie Laughlin is not only one of the most popular plus-size models in the world, but her successful career has led other supermodels with forms to see her as a role model. She is extremely popular both in the fashion industry and in the nutrition field. The Academy for Eating Disorders awarded Natalie Laughlin in 2002 for her powerful and encouraging message transmitted to women who are not skinny and shouldn’t make foolish gestures to lose weight.

8. Ashley Graham

Born in 1988 in the United States, Graham is a known plus-size model, especially for underwear presentations. She was discovered at the age 12 by an agent and at 15 she had already signed a contract with Ford Models. Although she had a successful career at an early age, Ashley Graham was not spared from the evils of her colleagues, who reminded her that despite the fact she is a model, she is still overweight. Now, she supports young women who struggle with the prejudice regarding being overweight.

9. Kate Dillon

She is one of the first plus-size supermodels. In 2000, People Magazine included her in the Top 50 most beautiful people in the world. As a teenager, Kate became anorexic, due to the pressure form her colleagues as school. With the help of a nutritionist, Kate recovered and turned those extra kilos into a successful plus-size modeling career.

10. Fluvia Lacerda

Brazilian Fluvia Lacerda was working as a nanny in New York when an editor at a fashion magazine approached her and asked her if she wants to become a plus-size model. Fluvia accepted and became a model of international stature. In the industry, she is known as the “plus -sized Gisele Bundchen”. Gorgeous lady.

11. Jennie Runkle

Although it is newcomer in the fashion world, Jennie Runkle has already appeared in numerous magazines. She posed for the H&M, for the swimwear collection and told the BBC her story, recommending all women to accept themselves and be healthy.

12. Saffi Karina

Her workshop, Curve Project London, offers tips, hairstyles and makeup sessions, photo sessions and courses to teach models how to walk on the catwalk. Saffi Karina can be a good teacher in the fashion world thanks to the experience she has in this area.

13. Crystal Renn

Women who go from skinny model size to plus size to improve their health are great models. And so is the case of Crystal Renn, who went through this change after she realized that fashion led her down a slope with eating disorders.

14. Robyn Lawley

She appeared on the covers of magazines like Vogue (Italian edition), Marie Claire and Elle, and in September 2012 signed a contract with Ralph Lauren, being included in the advertising campaigns of this fashion house.
