The horror pictures featured in this article belong to a young Russian artist named Lenore Scarecrow. While I am not sure if this is her real name, I have no doubt that you will love these photos! Her exquisite style and the quality of her work are impressive. Her art is pretty scary, while her horror is amazingly artistic. What it is more to say here is that she is the model of most of her pictures and that her refined technique is frightening without being repulsive at the same time.
This particular horror picture drew my attention upon Lenore Scarecrow’s work. This white vision of terror, dressed in even whiter bandage makes one freak out. The zombie like creature, with a wide opened mouth (manually opened) and with red eye contours is likely to give nightmares to a sensitive person.
Mereana Mordengard Glasgow was a famous internet legend which circulated three years ago. It refers to the mysterious video which apparently casues people to gouge their eyes out or commit suicide after watching it. Inspired by this legend, Lenore created this impressive picture. The realist technique is one of the reasons for which I chose this particular photo. The photographer disposed the blood spots strategically so that she creates a masterpiece. The beauty of the young woman, with the hypnotising green eye makes one pity her insanity while the other tones are neutral, so that the colour of the blood stands out. Contrasting with the red of the blood, the green eye is the only other colour within the framework.
3. Always ready
This horror picture can be described as sad, beautiful or creepy and none of the descriptions would be wrong. The sad image of a teenage girl assassinated within the perimeter of a school cannot but make an impact on us, while the beauty of the creation, as well as the terror that this photo inspires, are eye catching indeed. The paper butterflies on the wall are the contrasting ‘something’ used to amplify the tragedy of the situation.
This horror picture is amazing from a great number of reasons. Firstly, the beauty of the young woman, dressed in a white dress may be seen as angelic, if the axe and the blood weren’t present. Secondly, her gaze is very suggestive, but not obviously evil. This increases impact on the viewer, because the scene is not easy to accept. Thirdly, our stereotype of the beautiful, young, angelic girl does not include an axe and blood. These elements are usually seen in pictures of monsters and creepy looking criminals.
5. Black widow
The very instant I saw this impressive picture three words came into my mind: the black widow. Surprisingly (or not), this was the same title the author gave to the photo. This is a proof of her skill and art. Through her picture, she managed to render a very familiar concept. No words required, no explanation needed. Just the simple, yet scary image of a young, beautiful woman, with an elegant dress. The picure shows us the profile of the woman only, so that her graceful posture stands out. Rather gothic than horror, the photo was included among these others because it is simply gorgeous!
6. Her own reality
This impressive horror picture was taken in the abandoned Jewish cemetery, as the photographer confesses. It is a very appreciated photo, due to the wisely chosen cadre, and because of model’s acting and make-up. Her eyes, as well as her white toned skin are that of a dead person, while the very subtle expression of her face is that of a living human being, happy to see the trees once again. What is scary about this horror picture is rather the concept, our preconceived idea about zombies rising from their graves. The title of the picture gives us an idea about what could be in the woman’s mind, if she still has one.
This scary image shows us an apparently crazy woman. Who she is, or what she represents, what she is doing in the water, and why she is staring at us with such a fierce expression remain unanswered questions. We cannot but appreciate the idea, the acting of the model and the well chosen frame. The rest of the story may be imagined by each viewer and Iam sure it won’t be a comedy.
8. Your breakfast, sir!
This picture enters in the category of the comic horror and its title strongly supports this idea. The photographer’s concept is simple, yet ever shocking. The bloody human hand on the plate is really cool and realistic. Moreover, the old fashioned flatware, as our grandmas may have in their kitchens increase the impact of this horror photo, as it is seen as something that might be or become real .Enjoy your meal, therefore!
9. Colours of white
Lenore sees her art in a particular way. She is tough as to make horror photography yet sensitive enough to create these art works in a way that does not provoke disgust but rather joy of the eyes. The bloody ‘witch’ represented in this horror picture is attractive in an evil way. She is astonishingly beautiful and impressively wild. One cannot but appreciate her black, long hair, which pops out in the white landscape. Also, her white gown has the same effect, that of highlighting the colour of the blood. This new Snow White is not at all chaste or without sin. She seems to perform a magical ritual after having scarified ‘something ‘…
This chess queen is beautiful and glamorous. Ever seen such a beautiful, coloured horror picture? The evil chess queen is gifted by nature with the most beautiful curly, blond hair and she has very attractive features. She seems stylish, in a classic way. Her unusual make-up is well chosen, so as to show that something is not ‘right’ with her. In this context, her eyes become the central element of the picture. The blood line next to her mouth, as well as the potential murder scene in the middle of which she lays as well as her vicious expression, create the atmosphere of this horror photo, while the arrangement could hardly be more artistic.
