Here are some tips and tricks on how to take care of leather shoes and shoes in general. A person’s image is reflected by what he or she is wearing, or at least that is what people say, anyway. So, what image of yourself would you like to show to the world today?
1. Off they go!
If you bought a new expensive pair of shoes then you must not look at them with pride but also take care of them. Always open the laces and the buckle before taking the shoes off. Never force your shoes out as you might damage them.
2. More than one
For prolonging the life spam of your shoes and also the health of your feet, don’t wear the same pair of shoes every day. Alternate at least two pair of shoes, cleaning them and leaving them outside a little to freshen up.
If your shoes are wet, simply wipe them with a clean dry cloth and put some paper inside to absorb the humidity in the leather. Don’t place them near a heat source immediately as they will begin to dry off and the leather will start making wrinkles sooner than expected. Keep your shoes as dry as possible even when rain has caught you by surprise. Wait for the rain to go always while drinking a hot cappuccino at the nearest location instead of going on your way and getting soaked wet.
4. The night before
Because of the water composition in the shoe cream the shoes will look at their best the morning after and because you can make this a good habit and include it in the time you take preparing for the next day. Good preparations make good presentation.
5. New shoes
New shoes always make a squawky sound. To get rid of the sound by placing the shoes in a recipient that you will fill with in oil but only as to cover the sole of the shoes. Let them soak in for some time (48hours) and them take them out and place them on a old newspaper so the paper can absorb the extra oil. You should leave them to dry for a day or two so you make sure you will not leave any oil marks behind when you wear them. Nobody wants to get their floor dirty with in oil.
6. Shoe laces
Take out the shoe laces one a week, wash them and let them dry s you normally do, but when you put them back, make sure you don’t leave them get worn un only in the places where they pass through the orifices of the shoe, try to change this pattern by arranging them differently. You can always change the length of the shoe lace by pulling on one end of the string easily while pushing the other. Remember patience is important while you do this.
7. Polishing trick
The shoes will look even better after you polish them if you put a couple of drops of alchohol in the polishing cream. This will not only make your shoes shine it will also make them clean. If you have black shoes, you can clean them using a cloth soaked in either in beer or olive oil. Afterwards polish them with a flannel and observe the difference.
Don’t let your shoes in the sun too long, the leather will start to wrinkle. If you already done that and are left with wrinkled shoes you can always use a body cream to re-hydrate the entire skin surface of the shoe. Let them dry and wipe away the excess, and them polish them with a polish cream similar in color as the shoe color. If you use a dark one, the shoes will look dirty.
9. Shoe polish
Choose a similar color and keep it in a dry place. If by any chance the shoe polish becomes hard and unusable, stir it up with a wood stick or spatula, after you have pored a tablespoon of hot milk in it. This will help moisturize the polish and you will be able to continue using it instead of having to go buy a new one. Save time and money.
10. Wear them with pride
Wear shoes that you find confortable wearing. Walk the path that you want to walk using shoes that are adequate for the road you are taking. Don’t wear uncomfortable shoes as they may damage your toes and toe nails. Choose comfort before trend when buying a new pair of shoes.
