Whether you love to practice extreme sports or not, you cannot but admire those who do for their courage and skills. Even though these sports are called “extreme” for a good reason, and the risks involved are not minor, people are practicing extreme sports more and more each year, because these activities, which involve getting your adrenaline pumping, are a great change for our dull lives at office, for which humans were not actually built.
1. Base Jumping
For those of you who are not familiar with the term, base jumping is a sport which supposes using a parachute in order to jump from fix places, and not from a plain as ordinary. “Base” is actually an acronym which stands for the usual four structure which are the favorites of the base jumping enthusiasts: building, antenna, span (for example, a bridge)and earth (any natural shape).
2. Free Diving
Diving without any equipment is very dangerous, but there are many people who enjoy the feeling, and who may blame them? The divers try to reach at the greatest depths they can with one breath only. This is becoming one of the most popular extreme sports out there, especially for water lovers who like the danger involved, but also the beauty of it.
3. Cave Diving
Cave diving is one of the most beautiful extreme sports in the world: exploring the caves which are at least half filled with water must be an extraordinary experience. Specialized SCUBA diving equipment must be used when practicing this sport; also, it is very dangerous because of the many risks, such as decompressing, sickness or drowning. Thus, there are not many practitioners of this sport, at least, not yet anyway.
4. Speed skiing
Speed skiing is not for everybody, this is for sure: except for skill and experience, the skier must also prove courage and a dose of craziness. This sport involves skiing downhill as fast as possible in a straight line. Usually, speed skiers go above 200 km/per hour.
5. Rock fishing
One of the most dangerous sports in the world is the rock fishing. It involves fishing from rocky outcropping directly into the sea and claims many deaths each year. Despite this aspect, this sport has many fans and its popularity grows every year.
6. Bull riding
This is not one of the newly appeared extreme sports and you may be familiar with it; bull riding is a rodeo sport which involves, of course, riding a bull which will do anything to escape. At the beginning, the bull is imprisoned in a small enclosure (bucking chute) but when the rider feels prepared, the gate is opened and the bull is free to run and try to throw the rider from his back. This sport is dangerous, as all people who ever saw an angry bull would agree, but it has many adepts and its popularity does not seem to decline.
7. Supercross
Derived from Motocross, supercross consists in racing on off-road motorcycles on man-made dirt-tracks which feature all sorts of obstacles and steep jumps. Though very exciting and interesting enough to have gained a huge number of fans, this sport is also very dangerous and might end up bad for the racers.
8. Yacht Racing
Yacht racing is a very beautiful, yet extremely dangerous sport, because of the many dangers involved, such as drowning, sharks and all sorts of accidents, especially when the race takes place on great distances.
9. Street luging
This sport, which involves riding a streetluge board (sled) on a paved road, is very dangerous and thus, the ones who want to practice it require to be fully aware of the risks and also to use special safety equipment. Despite the obvious risks, street luging gained such fame that professional races started to be held. With speeds that may easily touch 100 km/hour, there is no wonder that speed enthusiasts fell in love with this sport as soon as it appeared!
10. Rock Climbing
Though there are many other extreme sports that could have easily found a place on this list, I chose to illustrate my favorite ones and rock climbing is one of them. Rock climbing describes both climbing man-made rock walls and natural ones. Using his own hands and feet, the climbers must try to reach the top . This difficult task is accomplished by a pair of climbers by using both their physical and psychical abilities and thus, makes rock climbing one of the coolest extreme sports in the world. If you want to take extreme to extreme, you have rock climbing with no safety equipment: climbers chose to rely on their own skills as only safety measure.
