In the past, when it came to grooming tips for men, it was all about taking a shower and keeping your nails clean and short. However, with recent developments in the beauty field for men (designers tending to their needs, beauty products specially created for men), they too feel the need to take care of themselves, eat properly, exercise and get rid of that beer belly.
But since the line between basic, decent grooming and becoming a metrosexual is very thin, today we are going to talk about how men can take care of themselves and still be seen as men.
Here are today’s top ten grooming tips for men.
1. Skin cleansing
Women don’t just use makeup remover to remove makeup, but also wipe out all the impurities, dust and microbes accumulated their skin, after spending an entire day outside. So, skin cleansing is not just concerned with removing makeup, but with a thorough cleaning of the skin. Skin cleansing is recommended two times a day (morning an evening). Men should chose product suitable for their skin type and avoid creamy, girly skin cleansers.
If you are not growing a beard, shaving is an important part of keeping a clean look. Shave as often as you see fit and remember that excess hair on your face can cause rashes or pimples underneath. Make sure you use the right products during and after shaving.
3. Body hair removal
I think we can all agree that men who shave their legs are not exactly masculine. But basic hair removal should be a concern when it comes to grooming. You armpits and private parts need extra attention. When it comes to hair on your chest, never ever use a razor. The best thing you could do is visit a professional and have it removed with wax. It’s going to hurt a lot, most probably, but this way your chest hair will not get thicker and blacker.
4. No wrinkles
Although men usually develop wrinkles later than women, it’s a good idea to know how to take care of your skin in order to delay the aging process. Use an anti-wrinkle cream specially designed for your need and pay attention to the skin around your eyes, because it is very sensitive and usually, wrinkles set in this are first.
Most women will tell you that they usually pay attention to the hands of men, because they are the mirror of the soul. Not exactly sure what that means, but keeping hands and feet clean is a must for every guy. It all starts with cutting and cleaning nails, applying a layer of protective, transparent nail polish (it’s not even noticeable and it’s there only for the protection of the nails) and moisturizing the hands and feet with a special nourishing cream. It’s a ritual you should be doing at least once every two weeks in a professional salon and two times a week by yourself.
6. Take care of your lips
Men’s lips are very sensitive and tend to be dry. This occurs because lips are not sufficiently hydrated and so, using a lip balm can provide hydration and protection. Not to mention that some lip balms have UV protection which is required for prolonged exposure to the sun. It just takes few second. If you want to feel extra manly, choose a lip balm without a fruity aroma.
7. Hair care
Something that we don’t like about men is when they go around with greasy hair. Especially if you use styling products, such as foam or gel, you will need to clean your hair thoroughly and frequently in order to get rid of all the impurities. Use adequate products, according to your hair type and get a haircut whenever needed.
8. SPF lotion
UV rays affect the skin of both men and women. So, do not hesitate to use sunscreen every time you expose yourself to the sun, in order to prevent the negative effects of sun exposure, such as brown spots, wrinkles, irritation, allergies and even other serious health problems such as skin cancer.
All men use perfume, but not all of them know how to use it properly. The fragrance should be subtle and you should avoid applying to much and thus leaving a “cloud” of perfume behind you.
10. No creases
Last, but certainly not least, pay attention to your clothes in order to always look impeccable. If you’re wearing a suit, make sure it doesn’t have any creases. Shoes should always be spotless and make sure you dress impeccably, even if you’re only wearing jeans and a T-shirt
