What are you willing to do to be beautiful? Would you limit yourself to buying all products advertised by your favorite celebrities? Or would you be willing to dip your toes into the bizarre? Now the bizarre we’re talking about here can illicit either disgust or fear in most people. But really, in the name of beauty, some women will give their fears no heed. If you are promised baby-soft skin or incredibly healthy hair, you will probably be more than willing to give these a try. And even if they don’t work, at least you’ll have a fun story to share with your girl friends, right?
1. Beer Spa
Found in several European countries (Germany, Czech Republic, Austria, and a few others), beer spas have become quite popular in the last few years. What exactly does it do? Is it as effective as drinking a cold glass of beer at the end of a stressful day at work? Owners of these facilities are saying yes. Apparently, sitting at around half an hour in a beer tub can help you relax. Also, it helps make your skin and hair even more beautiful. And if you so desire, you can drink the beer, too. We do not recommend the beer in your tub because it will taste a disgusting side of warm.
2. Bull Semen Hair Treatment
Shampooing your hair is probably one of your favorite bath activities. With a good-smelling shampoo or conditioner and the promise of soft hair after, this is something that many women love to do. But for even more luxurious hair, some women go for something organic: bull semen. Now in case this sounds disgusting, your hair will not be slathered with semen straight from the source. It is mixed with other ingredients to make the treatment more fragrant and perhaps less offensive. It is said to make hair moisturized, shiny, and noticeably healthy.
3. Snail Serum/Creams
Touted to be wonderful for healing dry skin, acne, stretch marks, and just about any other skin problem you can think of, snail slime has been used for centuries. In modern times, snail slime is an ingredient for some high-end cosmetics. If you are not too happy with their prices, you might experiment with the snails right in your garden. That’s the way some South American women have been doing it for generations so it’s not as disgusting as it sounds.
4. Ramen Noodle Soup Bath
Ever had a bowl of ramen noodle soup and thinking that it’s so good you’d love to bathe in it? Well now you can! You can have a ramen noodle soup bath in Japan (where else?). Your tub will look like a real ramen bowl, too. Of course, you will bathe in a concoction of collagen, garlic, and other ramen ingredients. You will walk away with healthier skin, they say. It is also said that dipping in a ramen soup bath can increase your metabolism.
5. Placenta Skin Cream
Yes, women have been slathering their face with products that contain ingredients harvested from other women. The process of making the creams is not as gory as it sounds, though. Still, you have to admit that putting placenta cream on your face has that element of strange and disgusting. Even though the cream smells heavenly and is beautifully packaged, you cannot help thinking that what you’re doing is wrong. Who cares if it can stop the aging process or make you look even more beautiful?
6. Nightingale Facial
The main ingredient of this bizarre beauty product is the fecal matter of the nightingale. This is another beauty treatment made popular by the Japanese. According to those who can afford this facial, this concoction can make your skin look whiter and more beautiful. It is said to be able to treat skin that has been damaged by the sun and other factors that affect the beauty of one’s skin. This does not smell bad, apparently, so that’s a good thing.
7. Snake Venom Cream
Botox is the big thing right now in celebrity-land. People who are aching to hold on to their smooth face are injecting their faces with Botox left and right. But according to some experts, there is another product that is said to be more effective than Botox. This product is a cream made of snake venom. Mixed with other ingredients that are also said to be good for your skin, a cream made of snake venom can help fight wrinkles and make you look younger than your years.
8. Crocodile Dung Facial
What is it with animal poo and face creams? This product was used by ancient Romans and Egyptians. These people were under the impression that crocodile dung can help make their skin look pale and smooth. A facial cream made of crocodile dung and mud was also used to fight the signs of aging. Using this mixture as a facial was not enough for some people; a bath with crocodile excrement was also quite popular.
9. Fish Foot Spa
This one has been around for a good number of years and has actually been accepted by many people. If you go to a fish foot spa, you will submerge your feet in a tank or pool with hundreds and hundreds of dead skin cell-eating fish. The results: very soft feet much like those of a baby. This is still very popular and many spas of this kind open all over every year even though they have been banned in some parts of the US. It has been reported that the fish in these spas can help transfer diseases from one person to another.
10. Leech Therapy
Used in some medical treatments for a long time now, leech therapy is also used for those who seek to be more beautiful. Demi Moore is one celebrity that has freely admitted to having undergone this bizarre beauty method. Well, this is enough proof for some women that it does work. Demi looks fantastic for her age!
